California’s other candidates
We’re two short months away from the California governor primary election, and polls show about a fifth of Californians aren’t sure who will earn their vote. Maybe these undecided voters need to hear from some of the less-known candidates in the race.
Thomas Jefferson Cares, for example. That’s a real Democratic candidate for governor — one whose day job is listed as “blockchain startup CEO” on the secretary of state’s official certified list of candidates.
Or how about a lecture on transhumanism? That’s what Zoltan Istvan does when he’s not running for governor as a Libertarian candidate. Left unclear by the document is Istvan’s relationship with the other wonderfully named Libertarian candidate, recording artist Nickolas Wildstar.
Green candidate Christopher Carlson moonlights as a puppeteer and musician. This background has prepared him for at least one factor of governance: keeping voters entertained. Some may laugh, but that’s a valuable skill in a state that twice elected Arnold Schwarzenegger.
